Finance Advisory

Advise executives regarding strategic decision making, organizational structure, process improvement, and reporting of key performance indicators.

  • Served as the interim CFO for an agricultural technology start-up company. Advised the CEO and Board regarding strategic decision making; negotiated and structured the purchase of South African intellectual property; negotiated and closed $20 million in capital funding; designed and managed the accounting processes and procedures; developed monthly financial reporting package; prepared financial models for financial planning and managing operating capital; negotiated contract terms with vendors, potential employees, and contractors; administered payroll and accounts payable.
  • Advised and developed a financial model in support of a fund advisor’s strategic planning and capital raise activities
  • Developed and prepared monthly reporting packages for a private equity-backed healthcare company
  • Evaluated accounting process compliance with internal controls, supplier and customer contract terms, and reporting requirements
  • Prepared strategic financial models including key business drivers, variance analysis, financial statements, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and liquidity measures
  • Developed budgeting and forecasting tools, processes, and procedures
  • Designed and prepared cash flow forecasting models in support of corporate consolidation, creditor reporting, and managing short-term working capital requirements

Litigation Consulting

Litigation Consulting

Assist attorneys in determining the appropriate measure and amount of damages related to various types of business disputes. Evaluate lost profits, price erosion, lost business value, unjust enrichment, reasonable royalty, and other measures of economic damages related to allegations of breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, misappropriation of trade secrets, and other litigated claims. Recent engagements include:

  • Evaluated claims by royalty owners against a U.S. based oil and natural gas producer for the underpayment of royalties
  • Evaluated claims for misappropriation of trade secrets and use of confidential information for an auto parts remanufacturer
  • Performed use of funds forensic accounting review for a family trust
  • Conducted business valuation for patent holder in support of business partner dispute
  • Traced cash transactions of a closely held business in support of business partner dispute claims

Kyle Elam

Kyle Elam

Founder

Kyle has more that 12 years of experience providing finance advisory and litigation services to clients. After obtaining an MBA from Pepperdine University, Kyle served as an in-house litigation consultant for Bickel & Brewer on disputes involving executive severance, breach of contract, fraud, and white-collar cases. He prepared financial and factual analyses to examine key issues in litigation related to investigations by the SEC, IRS, and state attorney generals.

Prior to founding Elam Consulting Group, LLC, Kyle was a Director at the international consulting firm AlixPartners in the Financial Advisory Services practice. He managed teams engaged in matters related to finance transformation, corporate investigations, and litigation consulting.

Kyle has an MBA from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts in finance from Texas Christian University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Dallas–Fort Worth, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Kyle has established alliances with CPAs, CFAs, MBAs, attorneys, and other industry professionals to ensure he can provide a wide range of advisory and litigation services.
